Quality starts to the rescue

Just wanted to say, thank goodness for Quality Starts in fantasy baseball. I paid good money in my auction draft to keep Madison Bumgarner, and the SF Giants are playing like a bunch of Betty White’s out there.

How Bumgarner’s season is going right now,

1st start – 7 Inning pitched, 3 Earned Runs and even hits 2 HR’s for himself. Giants lose 5 – 6. (Thanks Mark Melancon, also on my team.)

2nd start – 8 IP, 2 ER, Giants lose 1 – 2

3rd start – 6 IP, 3 ER, Giants lose 1 – 3

4th start – 6IP, 1 ER Giants lose 0 – 1

So to start the season, Bumgarner has 0 wins and 3 losses. But thanks to the addition of the Quality Start stat (at least 6 innings pitched, giving up no more than 3 earned runs), Bumgarner is throwing enough to keep in positive points, because losses don’t take away points.

Either way, it’s only April, and still lot of baseball to play. Just wanted to rant on the Giants, because they don’t seem to have my fantasy baseball goals in mind. Get more runs, so Bumgarner can pitch some extra innings, and lead MY fantasy team to victory.
